The security check
All passengers must undergo a security check - this is evident from the requirements contained in the Swedish Transport Agency's regulations. The purpose of the security check is to find items that are prohibited from being brought into so-called restricted areas and on board the aircraft.
How it works...
In order to pass the security check, you must be able to present a valid boarding pass. You will receive a valid boarding pass after you have checked in for your flight.
Then you put your hand luggage, outerwear and other loose items that contain metal such as keys, mobile phone, wallet, belt, etc. on the tape that goes through an x-ray machine. If you have a laptop or similar in your hand luggage, you must take it out of your bag and place it on the belt.
You yourself then have to pass through a metal detector arch that reacts to different types of metal objects. If you trigger an alarm, the security screener needs to find out what triggered it and may therefore use a hand-held metal detector or perform a manual check on you.
Should there be suspicions that a passenger is carrying prohibited items and the normal check is not sufficient, a more detailed investigation can be carried out. This is then done in a secluded outdoor space.
